God is shaking the earth – Where is your trust?

Copied from Pastor Allen Jackson:

Hebrews 12:26-27 (NIV®)
He has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.

The Lord is shaking the earth—have you noticed? He is doing that to get our attention. He wants us to listen intently…and respond. The objective of the shaking isn’t just to demonstrate His power; He is exposing all of the things that can be shaken so that we can determine if we have placed our trust in something that is temporary. If the shaking you’ve experienced has brought you anxiety, I suggest you do a little review of where your trust has been placed. Has your joy been wrapped up in following your favorite sports team? Participating in social events? Travel? Hobbies? If the disruption of your usual activities has stolen your joy, perhaps your faith and your focus have been in the wrong place. The only thing that is guaranteed to be stable and unshakeable is the Kingdom of God, and that should be where we place our faith and our focus.

THINK ABOUT IT
If you have placed your trust in something that is temporary, say to the Lord, “I’m sorry for putting my hope and trust in something unstable that can fall, and then building my plans around it. Help me to realign and trust You.”

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help me see that the shaking You bring to the earth is a sign of great lovingkindness to Your people—preparing and purifying us to be the spotless Bride of Christ, dependent only upon You and eagerly awaiting Jesus’ return. In His name, amen.

Blessings,
Pastor Allen Jackson
